• 05.12.2012- Jerez de la Frontera - Birthplace of Flamenco

  Jerez is considered as the Birthplace of Flamenco. Jerez de la Frontra has been, since the turn of the last century, the city which has produced the most and best singers, dancers and guitarists in the whole history of Flamenco. The most important churches in Jerez, built after the Christian conquest of the city, have lent their names to its most traditional quarters: for example the districts of Santiago and of San Miguel where the roots of the Bulería (one typical style of flamenco) are to be found. Each day Jerez offers the very best of Flamenco in its famous tablaos (flamenco-bars), in addition to some very interesting flamenco performances. Furthermore the traditional Bulería Festival (in September) and the famous Jerez International Flamenco Festival which takes place each year during February and March are be celebrated with huge ceremonies.

  Jerez offers a wide range of possibilities to enjoy the countryside and to get back to nature: Stroll around the city or around its numerous parks and gardens,for example ¨El Altiilo¨ or ¨El Retiro¨, the enjoyment of the nearby protected natural areas, of parks and of reserves of special botanical and ornithological interest, or the opportunity to participate in an endless choice of outdoor activities which take place in the extensive surrounding countryside and nearby the hills. The city abounds in numerous gardens and designated green areas; some of them are even on the ground of the sherry wineries where a variety of species of animal and vegetation could be marveled. Many of them having been brought from South America over a century ago by the winery owners. There are also plentiful areas of wetland around the city where many different species of birds may be observed throughout the year, for example Laguna de Medina.

• 23.04.2012- Motor GP and Feria de Caballo

  Jerez de la Frontera celebrates on the last weekend of April the famous, annual Motor GP. Fans of motorcycles from all parts of Europe are coming to the South of Spain enjoying this big and sensational event. Already on Friday and Saturday are starting the official two training-days at the racing circuit to bring the people in the right mood for the real highlight on this weekend: the Spanish Grandprix of motorcycles which takes place on Sunday. Apart from the motorcycle racing, Jerez de la Frontera is definitely worth to visit: enjoying the beautiful coast of Cádiz, the Royal Andalusian riding school or just eating one of the delicious Tapas while drinking a glass of the famous Sherry. Just one week later in Jerez de la Frontera starts the beautiful FERIA DEL CABALLO, from the 07. until the 13. of May - a very special and one of the most beautiful horse fairs which Jerez is known for. During one week you can admire in a real unique atmosphere the most beautiful horses, proud equestrians and splendiferous carriages.
